About Us

Crafted for the soul. Designed for life.

ShopRoohani is Indian ethnic wear for the woman who refuses to choose between comfort and beauty. We make kurta sets, anarkali suits, sharara sets, lehengas, and occasion wear that feel as good at hour six as they look in the first photo — designer-level detail, without the designer price tag.

Our story

[Founder note — placeholder, to be replaced with the real story]

ShopRoohani started with a simple frustration: ethnic wear that photographed beautifully but fell apart by the third wear, or fit perfectly in the mirror but turned unbearable by the second function of the day. We wanted Indian women to stop choosing between an outfit that looks good and one that actually feels good to live in.

So we built ShopRoohani around one rule: every piece has to survive the real day it was bought for — the sitting, the dancing, the eating, the hours — not just the unboxing photo.

Why “Roohani”

Roohani means soulful — of the rooh, the spirit. Not just clothes you wear, but clothes that carry intention: the comfort of fabric chosen for how it feels against skin through a long function, the confidence of a fit that doesn't need constant adjusting, the quiet luxury of something that looks considered rather than mass-produced.

That's the standard every ShopRoohani piece is held to.

What we stand for

Comfort first.
An outfit that looks stunning in a photo but can't survive four hours of sitting, eating, and dancing has failed at its one job. We design for the actual length of Indian functions — breathable fabrics, manageable sleeves, waistbands that don't dig in when you sit cross-legged, dupattas that stay where you put them.

Affordable luxury.
Real mirror work. Real Aari embroidery. Real resham threadwork. Hand-painted organza. The same techniques you'd find in a designer boutique, priced so they don't require a special occasion to justify the spend. Most of our pieces sit between ₹499 and ₹5,999, with select designer lehengas going further for women who want a statement piece for a single big day.

Occasion-true design.
A haldi outfit and a sangeet outfit are not interchangeable, even if both are "festive." We design by function — light and breathable for daytime mehndi and haldi, movement-friendly for sangeet, full grandeur for receptions — because what works for one part of an Indian wedding often fails at another.

Who we make this for

The woman who has three functions this wedding season and needs each outfit to actually work — not just look right for thirty seconds of photos. The woman who wants the Mehndi-or-Diwali-or-Navratri look without paying boutique prices. The woman who has learned, the hard way, that a stunning outfit she can't sit in for more than an hour isn't actually stunning — it's a problem waiting for the second half of the function.

If that's you, you're who we built this for.

How we work

ShopRoohani is based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh — a city with centuries of textile and embroidery tradition running through it. We work with craftspeople practicing mirror work (shisha embroidery), Aari chain-stitch, resham threadwork, shibori hand-dyeing, and hand-painted organza — techniques that take real time and real skill, not machine shortcuts.

We ship pan-India, accept UPI, cards, net banking, and cash on delivery, and back every order with a clear 7-day return and exchange policy — no fine print designed to make returns harder than they need to be.
